Cubs recall RHP Porter Hodge from Triple-A Iowa, place RHP Colten Brewer on 15-day IL

CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today recalled right-handed pitcher Porter Hodge from Triple-A Iowa and placed right-handed pitcher Colten Brewer on the 15-day injured list with a low back strain (retroactive to May 14).

Hodge, 23, is 1-1 with a 6.55 ERA (8 ER/11.0 IP) in 10 relief appearances with Triple-A Iowa this season. He started the 2024 campaign with Double-A Tennessee where he pitched 4.0 scoreless innings in two relief appearances. Hodge will make his major league debut with the Cubs.

The Salt Lake City native is in his fifth professional season with the Cubs after being drafted by Chicago in the 13th round of the 2019 Draft. He was added to the Cubs 40-man roster on Nov. 14, 2023. Last season, he helped Tennessee to their first Southern League championship since 1978, going 6-7 with a 5.13 ERA (46 ER/80.2 IP in 35 games, 12 starts, with the Smokies. Porter currently sits as the Cubs No. 24 prospect according to MLB Pipeline.

Brewer, 31, has made seven relief appearances for the Cubs, posting a 3.09 ERA (4 ER/11.2 IP) this season.
